The major difference between Gator and most other spy ware programs is that users are clearly told of its download before it occurs.

Another major spy ware threat is CoolWebSearch. This spy ware can do a few things all at the same time. First, it can hi jack your current Internet browser settings, making things display wrong, and causing other system problems including making your pc go slow. It can reset your default homepage, and despite the number of times you try to change it, you will be unable to reset it to your desired homepage. It can also take over your web searches including on google and yahoo, displaying only advertiser sites when you search for info on web items.

It installs bookmarks to pornographic adult websites in your “Favourites” menu. It can cause your system to continually reboot. It can also cause serious system slow downs and crashes.
